The full line-up for ANTS' massive event at London's Brixton Academy, on Easter Thursday (April 13), has been revealed.
Added to Groove Armada (as previously revealed on TopReviews4U) will be Eats Everything, Secondcity and ANTS stalwarts Andrea Oliva and Waze & Odyssey.
Masked revellers, a mystery DJ and a strong supporting cast put on a theatrical display at Brixton’s iconic Electric club on Friday night/Saturday morning.
Tough and accessible house music was the order of the evening as Oliver Dollar, Eli & Fur and Mat.Joe warmed up expertly for the masked man Claptone himself.
The incognito German wowed the crowd with a series of belters as pyrotechnics whooshed around him, lighting up his golden Venetian plague doctor mask.
Claptone’s white gloved hands conducting an orchestra of clubbers who whooped and bounced as the tempo was ramped up.
The old theatre provided the perfect location for this macarbre cabaret.
Claptone is currently taking his The Masquerade event to several cities and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
The masked ravers made for a fantastic atmosphere with the Eyes Wide Shut vibe making the evnt a refreshingly new twist on modern nightlife.
The old-style masked ball is now a clubland force to be reckoned with.
And with dance music going increasingly commercial it is great to see DJs who skirt the line between accessible and underground and actually host a party.
Make sure you go and see Claptone if you get the chance – whoever he is!

Iconic and historic Koko (formerly the Camden Palace)
provided a stunning contrast to the absolutely cutting edge dance music served
up to a rapturous crowd.
I arrived early and already the venue was in full swing,
with a pulsating soundtrack – I’ve not seen a club so busy so early in many
years.
The stripped back DJ table was bathes in fairly simple
purple light, which lent an otherworldly appearance, but this was all about the
music.
And on that J00F Editions did not disappoint – excellent sets
from John 00 Fleming and Steve Arnold were also joined by the awesome Astrix,
who I’d never seen before, but will definitely seek out again in future.
His was the stand out set in a night of stand out sets.
The genres ranged from progressive to trance to psytrance in
what was a futuristic whir of musical mayhem.
The knowledgeable and fervent crowd were loving every morsel
of the aural feast as was I.
Quite simply it was a fantastic night and I will be looking
out for the next J00F Editions event wherever it may be and so should you.
A night of upfront funky, deep and
soulful house delighted revellers at one of London's coolest venues
last week, writes TopReviews4U editor Paul Christian.
Let There Be House's fantastic event at
McQueen, in Shoreditch, was eagerly-anticipated and did not
disappoint.
A fantastic crowd lapped up the
beat-driven party vibes at this unique and very stylish venue.
DJs on the night included Groovepunk,
Glen Horsborough, Fatfly, Mister H and Carl Hanaghan.
The event returns to McQueen in August
and TopReviews4U can't wait.
Uber-cool London venue McQueen, in
Shoreditch, will play host to a funky and soulful explosion tomorrow
night (Saturday, April 23) as Let There Be House bounces in.
The eight 'til late party will feature
DJs including Groovepunk, Glen Horsborough, Fatfly, Mister H and
Discopolis Recordings' Carl Hanaghan.
TopReviews4U will
be there on the night and will review the action on social media and
on this blog afterwards.
London's iconic Camden Palace (now
known as Koko) will play host to banging electronic beats and soaring
soundscapes once again next month as trance titan John '00' Fleming's
J00F Editions sweeps into town.
Mr Fleming (pictured with TopReviews4U
editor Paul Christian) will be joined by psytrance star Astrix as
well as Steve Arnold for a night which promises to showcase the
bleeding edge of trance and progressive music.
TopReviews4U will
be there on the night and will review the action on social media and
on this blog after the tumultuous tunage has subsided.
The
event will take place on May 29 and the combination of the
ultra-atmospheric dance music and the fantastic, historic setting
makes for a mouthwatering prospect.
Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance rolled into London on Saturday night - and it was the hottest ticket in town, writes TopReviews4U editor Paul Christian.
The Dutch maestro was ably assisted by compatriot Ruben de Ronde, whose floaty and driving set provided much more than just a warm up for the man himself. AvB's banging set was what ASOT fans have come to expect.
And the pounding trance was perfect for the cavernous O2 Brixton Academy. The walls reverberated to the sonic onslaught and the whoops and cheers of the crowd grew louder as the night went on. Aside from the music the venue was fantastic, with bars aplenty and there was even a warm up DJ in the entrance hall - courtesy of Elevation Audio - and a spinner playing at the cloakroom.. Brixton is quickly becoming the heart of London clubland, with sell-out gigs here and last month for ANTS at the Electric down the road. I for one am looking forward to more shenanigans in SW9.

Black webbing and a huge see-through
egg sac hung from the ceiling of the former theatre as ant-like
clubbers swayed and bounced below to tough beats enveloped in
monochrome lights and smoke.
The black and white colour scheme was
everywhere and created an otherworldly experience, where you forgot
colours existed and became engrossed in the rhythmic soundtrack.
Such production values have become a
feature of the Ibiza-born ANTS colony and nothing looks capable of
stopping this house music powerhouse from conquering the UK.
Fantastic bleeding-edge tracks rumbled
out of the speakers and enraptured the sell-out crowd at this iconic
venue.
DJs on the bill included US star Lauren
Lane, who played a perfectly-pitched early set, ANTS resident Andrea
Oliva, Noir and Waze & Odyssey, whose peak time performance
whipped up the crowd.
The show was the first ANTS gig in the
UK after successful stints in Ibiza in the summer and shows in Miami
and at Snowbombing.
If you missed it, fear not because on
the strength of this event, something tells me the capital has not
seen the end of the ANTS.
